A .22 LR carbine makes sense for persons who are not firearms enthusiasts that need the means to defend themselves and possibly other family members in the event of burglary or home invasion. Persons who are not able to competently and safely handle centerfire handguns may find that not only can they accurately shoot .22 LR caliber semi-automatic carbines (including short-barreled .22 LR pistols with arm braces), but that learning to shoot the same is actually enjoyable. The majority of burglars and home invaders are not willing to get shot with any firearm, and a single round from a .22 LR carbine that strikes a specific zone of neutralization can render even the most violent criminal home intruder who possesses the intent and ability to harm or kill others physically incapable of continuing his or her attack. A responsible adult possessing the knowledge, tools, and skills to be their own first responder if need be may also experience an enhanced sense of security when alone at home.
The .22 Rimfire Rifle Defensive Skills class is open to professional firearm trainers, competitive rimfire rifle shooters, concealed carriers who wish to arm their responsible family members, and individuals who live alone that wish to “skip the middleman” and leave the range that day far more prepared to directly with a potentially lethal threat in and around their home.
Topics addressed in the class include firearm familiarization, defensive gunhandling, blending accuracy with speed, shooting from unorthodox position, rapid target neutralization based upon the principles of Tactical Anatomy, shooting from cover and concealment, and armed movement in structures.

Required Equipment:
- .22 Long rifle carbine or pistol with arm brace and three magazines or lever-action rifle (Note: most .22 LR carbines do not require modifications or upgrades for defensive use purposes)
- 150 rounds of .22 LR ammunition (inexpensive off-brand ammunition is not recommended)
- 50 rounds of Federal Punch ammunition or CCI Mini Mag solid ammunition
- Cleaning kit
- Eye and ear protection
- Brimmed hat or cap
- Clothes suitable for season and weather
- Lawn chair
- Notebook and pen
- Flashlight with end cap control button
